WHAT WE DO
In a secret lair in the Oakland hills sits The Raindrop, Daryn Roven's sound room for overdubbing, mixing, and mastering.
Drawing on 30 years of production and engineering wisdom, I offer collaborative musical and technical guidance and education, working with clients to realize their immediate artistic goals and to become more comfortable and knowledgeable in their studio process.
I'm very aware that most musicians are also audio engineers these days. If you have an audio workstation in your home, you're an audio engineer, perhaps brilliant, perhaps newb, perhaps seemingly-semi-competent. Wherever you're at, I invite collaboration and questions at all points in the process so that while you work with me, you also become better at whatever part of the engineering you do yourself. We all win when we all improve our game. If I join your project early enough in the process, consultation on how you work at home is part of the package. If you just come to me for mixing, we can still discuss how your home workflow can improve your final product for next time.
Recording, small or large ensembles. Overdubbing. Editing. Mixing. Mastering. I do any and all of it, whatever fits your project. And if you don't even know what questions to ask, I can help you figure all that out. I specialize in answering stupid questions and making up some of my own.
